PEDERSON MANAGEMENT

FIBRE ANALYSIS

Manufacturing requirements are determined based on cruise data and historical process data:

  • Log size and species distribution
  • Product outturns and machine centre piece count requirements
  • Fibre and grade yield
  • Return to log valuation

FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS

Pederson Management provides feasibility analysis for new facilities or upgrades:

  • Fibre supply
  • Product outturns
  • Financial analysis
  • Permitting (development, building, environmental)

CONCEPTUAL DESIGN

Conceptual design is provided based on the fibre analysis and the requirements of the facility.

Generally there are many iterations through this process based on process flow, product requirements, capital constraints, etc.

EQUIPMENT SELECTION

We work with the mill personnel to select the equipment for new mills or mill upgrades.

Equipment selection is based on process requirements, capital cost, serviceability and cost of ownership.

MANUFACTURING GAP ANALYSIS

Identify gap and opportunities for improvement in the key performance areas (lumber recovery, grade outturns, length retention, chip quality, operational readiness, productivity and manufacturing costs).

Operational data, industry data and industry knowledge are used for the analysis.

MASS TIMBER

Pederson Management provides input fibre requirement and process analysis for mass timber facilities.

In collaboration with Steve Marshall (Mass Timber Strategies) and Oscar Faoro, we are able to offer full process and economic analysis to the cross laminated timber and gluelam industries.
